Morning Meeting - June '09
The Challenges of Living with HIV/AIDS in Rural Africa
Kate Wooding
20th June 2009
Kidlington Baptist Church
9.30a.m. for 10.00a.m. - 12.30p.m.
Our speaker, Kate Wooding, and her husband lived for a number of years in a rural area of Uganda where they ran Kiwoko Hospital, which doubled in size over the six years they were there. With sponsorship from CMS they will be returning with their children to Uganda in August, this time to the capital, Kampala.
Kate has written a thesis on the difficulties encountered by children diagnosed with HIV and prescribed ARV drugs in rural areas which lack medical facilities and do not offer a reliable infrastructure to ensure supplies of the essential medication.
This is the first of our planned series of morning meetings, when we can look in more depth at specific topics of interest. Please use the Future Events link to find out more about forthcoming activities.
