Vision:
To establish a centre of excellence for women and youth living with HIV, and ensure effective implementation of the GIPA principle in Southern Africa.
There is a significant gap amongst HIV/AIDS organizations – they often neglect core problems, and in cases where these are tackled, solutions and outcomes are usually not sustainable. In addition to this, the skills development of people living with HIV/AIDS is limited to certain economic sectors, and there are inadequate quality support services, systems for monitoring, evaluating and providing access to sustainable livelihood and socio economic projects.
Mercy AIDS Foundation (MAF) seeks to bridge this gap and to create a sustainable system enabling people to reach their highest potential by providing:
Mission:
To design, facilitate and co-ordinate skills training, enterprise development and wellness programmes for HIV positive women and youth living with HIV
We are committed to ensuring that our resources and efforts empower HIV positive women to make their own decisions related to education, training and development, at all levels. The primary focus areas for the foundation are townships and rural areas, which have no access to such facilities.
As ACHIVA supporters will know, we are indebted to Masi Makhamele, for the encouragement, enthusiasm and knowledge which she shares so warmly. Here is just a brief introduction to the Mercy Aids Foundation which she founded. For more, see www.mercyaidsfoundation.org
